I don’t care how other people feel about the iPhone, it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference to me but if somebody had approached me ten years ago with the suggestion that we would feasibly be able to create studio quality music on a mobile phone, well I’m pretty sure I would have laughed myself a pile or six. I’ll admit the iPhone is much more than a phone, it’s an extremely powerful hand-held computer and the really exciting part is, it’s still in it’s infancy.

iPhone Music is destined to become a genre all it’s own, there aren’t any real sticky-out pioneers yet but as processors get faster and apps get smarter we’re surely in for some pocket-born treats. Roll on iTablet! Reaktor on iTablet? Yes please!

There’s a whole new iPhone timelinemusic video approaching completion down at Foilface HQ, it’s pretty much the same idea as the last one except this time it features no real instruments, just a handful of (mostly free) iPhone apps.

I’m listing them here for no apparent reason other than to count them

Melodica, Easy Guitar, NLog Synth Free, iRockGuitar Lite, Mobilesynth, Drum Kit Lite, Kalimba Free, Junglist Lite, Bebot – There were a couple of others involved but they never made the final edit.

Anyway this is just a heads-up as they say, the final video is currently being rendered and will be up at Vimeo sometime soon. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be called ‘Hidan’ and I’m also pretty sure if Nathan Barley were a real person he’d have a boner as hard as a 1TB Western Digital with a platter made entirely from Diamonds over this video.
